Proposal Design The renovation proposal focuses on creating a fluid and interconnected spatial experience by integrating the exhibition areas into a unified circulation system. The project is organized into four primary zones: 1. Reception and Waiting Area 2. Temporary Exhibition Space 3. Permanent Exhibition Space 4. Library and Co-Working Space The design approach draws inspiration from familiar visual elements deeply rooted in the culture and landscape of Nan. Panoramic mountain scenery is reinterpreted through the use of curved architectural walls, creating the sensation of walking through valleys and natural landscapes. The seating within the audiovisual room was redesigned to increase viewing capacity and comfort, inspired by the layered formation of terraced rice fields. Local vernacular architectural elements were also reimagined through contemporary construction methods, including bamboo-line patterns translated into tensioned steel structures and the integration of reclaimed timber columns assembled using traditional joinery techniques inspired by Nan’s historic “Huen” and “Hong” architecture. Material selections emphasize natural textures and tones, reflecting the colors of the earth, the linear rhythm of bamboo craftsmanship, and traditional split-bamboo weaving techniques derived from local community knowledge and artisanal heritage.
